RE: Water Supply Reduction Notice
Dear Burley Irrigation District Patron,
Burley Irrigation District has used 58,210 acre-feet of storage water since the beginning of the irrigation season. This is substantially more storage water than would typically be used at this point in the year.
Despite requests for conservation, water use has remained high, and the District has pumped more water to date this season than ever before. As a result, additional conservation measures are necessary.
To preserve the District's remaining water supply and reduce the risk of shortages later in the season, a reduction in water deliveries will begin June 15, 2026. Patrons should plan on having 1.5 acre-feet per acre available for the remainder of the irrigation season.
These reductions will be strictly enforced. District staff and ditch riders will monitor deliveries to ensure water is distributed fairly and equitably throughout the District. Cooperation from all patrons is essential to maximize the available water supply for the benefit of all water users.
Patrons may share water between lands they own within the District. However, if a patron wishes to use water associated with rented or leased ground on other lands, written authorization from the landowner must be provided. Authorization forms are available at the District office.
The District appreciates your cooperation and conservation efforts as we work to manage the available water supply through the remainder of the season.
Sincerely,
BURLEY IRRIGATION DISTRICT
